Wooden garden furniture is best know for its classic and effortless charm; there are a variety of different woods that can be used for making furniture, however not all types of wood are created equally, or have the same attributes. Here at Tony Ward, we believe in making quality handmade garden furniture which not only looks lovely, but is also designed to last.
That's why we predominantly choose to manufacture our garden future using Scandinavian Redwood originating from sustainable forests. Redwood is a high quality timber which has many great attributes including being naturally resistant to moisture, effective at withstanding cold and wet climates, and is known for being strong and long-lasting.
We make a variety of wooden garden furniture including seating, tables and bridges. Furniture like this is naturally going to be walked over, climbed on, spilt on and more, and therefore needs to be resilient and easy to maintain.
To ensure it's natural quality is prolonged, our Redwood is initially pressure treated with an oil based wood preserver. To continue prolonging the life span of this quality wood, we recommend further treatment using any propriety brand of treatment recommended for soft wood. However if we had to recommend one in particular, we are fond of Barrettine Premier Wood Preserver in Summer Tan.
If you want to look at your options for maintaining your wooden garden furniture then we have a guide here which looks at the different advantages and disadvantages of painting, oiling or staining.
